Tools and Equipment Insurance for Contractors
Your tools travel with you, and a general liability policy is not designed to cover your own property. Tools and equipment coverage — often written as an inland marine or contractor's equipment floater — can cover your gear on job sites, in transit, and in storage, subject to the policy terms.
Request a quoteWhat it may help with
Subject to the actual policy or bond form, its terms, limits, and exclusions.
- Theft or damage to listed equipment or blanket tools while at a job site or in transit, as described in the policy.
- Scheduled coverage for higher-value items such as lifts, generators, or diagnostic equipment.
- Rented or leased equipment, where included or endorsed.
Keep in mind
- Theft from unattended vehicles may carry conditions, such as the vehicle being locked with signs of forced entry.
- Policies differ on replacement cost versus actual cash value. Ask which one applies.
- Per-item limits on unscheduled tools are common. Higher-value items often need to be listed individually.
Questions we'll review with you
- What is the approximate total value of your tools and equipment?
- Are there individual items worth more than a few thousand dollars?
- Where are tools stored overnight?
- Do you rent equipment for jobs?
Coverage availability, eligibility, limits, and pricing are subject to underwriting and policy terms. Requesting a quote does not bind coverage.
