Landscaping and Property Maintenance Insurance
Mowers, trailers, crews, and the occasional flying rock — landscaping and property maintenance businesses have a distinctive mix of exposures. KTL can help you review options for maintenance routes, installs, and seasonal work.
Get a Landscaping QuoteExposures to think about
- Property damage from thrown debris, equipment, or vehicles on customer property.
- Trucks pulling trailers loaded with mowers and equipment.
- Seasonal crews and employee injuries from equipment use.
- Tree work, pesticide or herbicide application, snow removal, or hardscaping that may need specific review.
Coverage options to discuss
Contractors General Liability
General liability is usually the first policy a client, general contractor, or property manager asks to see. It is designed to respond to claims that your work or operations caused bodily injury or property damage to someone else, subject to the policy's terms, limits, and exclusions.
Contractors Workers' Compensation
Workers' compensation is designed to provide benefits to employees who are injured on the job, as defined by state law and the policy. Most states require it once you have employees, and many general contractors require proof of it from their subcontractors.
Commercial Auto & Work Trucks
If your trucks, vans, or trailers are titled to the business, carry tools and materials, or are driven by employees, commercial auto is the policy designed for that use. It can include liability, physical damage, and other coverages depending on what you select.
Tools & Equipment Insurance
Your tools travel with you, and a general liability policy is not designed to cover your own property. Tools and equipment coverage — often written as an inland marine or contractor's equipment floater — can cover your gear on job sites, in transit, and in storage, subject to the policy terms.
Commercial Umbrella & Excess Liability
Larger contracts often require liability limits higher than a primary policy provides. A commercial umbrella or excess liability policy can add limits above specified underlying policies, such as general liability, auto liability, and employer's liability.
Practical questions we'll ask
- Do you perform tree trimming or removal, and at what height?
- Do you apply pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers?
- Do you offer snow plowing or ice management?
- How many trucks, trailers, and major equipment pieces do you run?
Your answers help an agent understand which markets may be a fit. Not every landscaping business qualifies with every carrier, and some operations require additional underwriting review.
Coverage availability, eligibility, limits, and pricing are subject to underwriting and policy terms. Requesting a quote does not bind coverage.
